Bypassing the Fuel Valve?
In the old days, motorcycles didn't use fuel valves, but rather petcocks, that worked on simple gravity rather than needing a vacuum. I was wondering what are the negative aspects of bypassing the fuel valve and running a fuel line directly to the carb? Of course its a PITA when you have to remove the carb, but are there any other issues?

Yea, if something blows (like your float) and all the fuel in your bike flows out the overflow tube onto the ground what happens when that 1/2 a gallon of gasoline evaporates and your water heater kick on?
highlight for answer YOUR HOUSE EXPLODES!!!, similar things happen all the time with bad propane lines and backed up methane vents.
With the petcock there you might spill a tablespoon or two of gas, hardly a fire hazard.

I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
