warming up

Post by vette76 »

ok, my friend's spree when you first start it you have to hold the throttle for it to idle.then you have to let it run for like 5mins before it runs good. the carb is clean and has a new electric choke in it.also a new plug. why does it take so long to warm up?

Did you check the float inside the carb?
How about the float valve?
Sounds like the float isn't set right.
Might be running to lean.
Otherwise try setting the throttle valve to a different notch setting.

hmm, dont know what that could be. normal warmup time for my spree is like one run up and down the street and its good to go.
projects galore :nerd:

the thing is, if i take the choke completely out of the carb it will run but race. i dont really want to leave it like this because i dont know if it is racing because it is bypassing the throttle valve, which would also bypass fuelflow right? making it run too lean if i just left it out.

Removing the choke will lean it out; it starts pulling air through the choke circuit.

How's his intake tract look, and filter?

Is the idle set correctly, i.e just slow enough to keep the rear wheel from turning on the stand?

Sounds like a blocked idle circuit. You're using the main jet to idle.
