unusual tube from final drive...

i took off the side panels to clean the carb the other day...and i noticed this tube..dont know what it is though...it looks like it fits into that little opening at the bottom of the airbox holder...hmm?

and do i keep it inside the housing or let it out like in the first pic?

Yea keep it in there so it doesnt fall off or get dirt in the gearbox.
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
