Inline fuel filter

Post by scootoe »

:D
Issue: 86 Spree kept running great then carb was getting clogged, throttle would not respond well and engine acted bogged down. Carburator kept clogging after repeat cleaning.

Solution: Cleaned carb for one last time( Per Jerry), installed new standard fuel line ($1.50) from hardware and a Briggs and Stratton ($2.00)small engine in-line fuel filter( looks kind of like a little coffee filter in a plastic dome) from local hardware.

Results- Scooter has run like a charm for 100 plus miles thus far.
Used to get clogged every 1-10 miles and would then require carb cleaning.

(For some reason the filter in the tank, a fine mesh screen, would let little particles through to clog carb. The newer "coffee filter type " appears to works great.)

You might want to look into cleaning your tank, as per the post in the Tech Documents. Sounds like it's full of rust.
