Putting the cylinder head back on! How do I know if. . .

Post by scooternewby »

How do I know if the rings stayed in place on the piston when I slid the cylinder back on? I mean, it fit pretty nice, and it slides nice, but could the rings have slid out of place? Would the cylinder have even fit if they slid off?

If the rings weren't aligned on the locating pins and in their grooves you would not have gotten the assemble together as far as you have. There is only one other possiblity and that is the rings broke, but it is not likely. To test, look in the exhaust port, move the crank until the rings are in sight, push on them with a small screw driver, if there is spring in them, you are good.

heres the real joy, not only do you have two running scooters, but you know how to rebuild scooter motors and you now have the know-how to tear it apart and find the problem.

I dont know what you do for a living. but with the info you learned here you can start your motor building life. Once you start, its hard to stop.

As a matter of fact, ive been off work for a while because of a Double Lung Transplant I had last year. But I have been thinking about attending school and getting licensed in mechanics. It sure is fun!!

Dac: Now is the perfect time to get into the automotive field! With the big 3 out of business and everybody losing money they have no choice but to fix their old cars!

I think my dad might make bonus next week at the trans shop!
I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
