My CLUTCH IS SLIPPING AND PROBALLY GOING OUT help

Post by apephoto222 »

the other day when i was riding i noticed that when i took off the engine started reving higher than normal for the throttle i was giving. Also It seemed to not take off with as much power. This is after the engine was warmed up and everything. Does this mean my clutch is going out and how and how should i fix it.

Thanks

Could be the belt, year and model?

does the clutch/ belt cover come right off with their bolts no problem or is their any seals or anything that would make me not be able to put back on without trouble?

I dont want to take it off and then learn that i haft to also get another part to put it back together.

thanks

yea, just remove the 6 8mm bolts and the cover will come off. might have to tap on it to get it off. 8)

The seal on my rear cover was a real pain. it was like it was stretched on the bottom it would fit here and then come off there. eventually I had to go for off here and there and then tighten down evenly.

Standard automotive V belts will shred at higher speeds, I've had it happen before. I don't think the belt that fits the Spree is all that expensive. If you turn out to need a clutch, I have a few of them, let me know.

Removing drivr cover?

Post by kentdog007 »

I too need to check my belt; I took all the bolts out and beat the cover with a rubber mallet but it is on there good.

Can I pry with a flat screwdriver, if so where? ANy tips anyone?

I would drive a screwdriver into the gasket, be careful no to mess up the gasket, it sets spacing for starter parts.

OK. I had ordered the belt thinking that it might be the problem but when i finally took off the cover it had looked to be in alright shape. Would anyone have a new cheap clutch and accept paypal?? or is their anything else that might go wrong??

I beat my belt cover off with a hammer and a 2x4.....took a while, though. Pry bars were too large to grab the edges with. They kind of get stuck on if they haven't been taken off for 20+ years....

is that AF05 clutch a factory clutch. Is it the same as the sprees clutch. Nothing complex to put on. Just a quick swap??
