Greetings:

The AF 05E is the engine code for 85-later Aeros, the 1987 SE50 Elite and the 1988-1993 SA 50 Elites sold in the US market. I believe there are shaft diameter and/or alignment plane issues that would make it not fit a Spree, but I could be mistaken. My first stock clutch is sold. I may have a second to sell in a week or so. See FS/WTB.

Wheelman, strange as it sounds the Spree's engine code is also AF05E. Got me why. But we did get bored and try to swap the CVT parts from my junk elite motor, not happening. Rear clutch doesn't clear the case, neither does front pulley. Bummer.

So the Aero clutch won't work. Hope that helps.

Belt looks OK

I did get the cover off and the belt looked real good. Tons of black greasy powder (belt debris) in the housing.

I didn't take the cover off to inspect the clutch pads; Whats the best way to lock the housing so it won't spin and I can get the bolt off? Any special instructions? Does anyone have a new or real good clutch for sale?

But would the Spree pulleys with the Aero Clutch & bell combination work? Where did it hit the case? Any pictures (please)? Thanks!

Running Naked

Greetings:

The front half of the cover is necessary for the starter mechanism and/or kickstart. However a Sawzall could address clearance issues with the back half of the belt cover - eliminate it behind the kickstart pedal and run naked?

If something critical to function on the block is in the way, don't bother. However if the blockage is just due to a flange that mates with the cover, die-grind away!

Dangit wheelieman, you're onto me! lol.

This is exactly what I was thinking. Now I just need to find someone willing to give me some dimensions of their OEM/Aftermarket Elite/Aero driven clutch for me!? That or let me "borrow" it to do the research myself. I'd gladly pay shipping both ways.

Anyone up for it? :D

Greetings:

I'd planned to pull the clutch this evening. I'll measure and post pics if the company Server cooperates. Shoot me your email if you want it tonight.
