Tires

Post by Jerry »

Posting for a shipmate:

Hey all,

Any one ever beefed-up the suspension on a Spree. I'll be doing a lot of trail riding on mine, an 86.
Also, will a 2.75x10 knobby tire fit these rims? 2.50's are avail, but will these work?
THANKS A LOT!
Best,
Brian

I have a parts manual and it shows:
Tire 2.50-10
Tube 2.50-2.75-20
Tube, Tire 3.00-10

I tried to order the 3.00-10 set and it was superceded by the 2.50-10 part. I'm thinking it's possible.

I measured the front forks and rear offset to check for 3.5" tires once; those I know won't fit. I think even the 3" tire interferes with the fork. A 2.75 tire should fit, but the way to check is to measure the distance b/t the forks and the distance b/t the rear tire and engine case.

Even a 2.75 might not fit if the knobbies are too large. I'm not sure if the knobbies are included in the 2.75" width measurement.
