draining oil?

I recently purchased an 85 spree and its low on oil. I want to use new oil and was wondering how I should go about removing the remainder of the old oil in the tank, or if I should even bother.

I assume you mean the injection oil in the tank right next to the gas tank. If this is correct, YES, you should change it if it has been sitting a while. Pull the oil hose going to the pump and let it run into a suitable container. Put your finger over the end of the hose and install new oil into the the tank. Remove your finger long enough to let fresh oil drain out and remove any air from the line. Reinstall the oil line to the pump. By doing it this way, you should not have to purge the pump. If oil has drained that far, read the oil tank cleaning and refilling procedure.
