Restricted CDI swap

Post by axo »

Ok i got a supposedly unrestricted CDI from a sym dd50 to replace my restricted JDM unit which is the one on the left side of the picture.
I do not have the plug for the new cdi, i will get one but i want to make sure the pin location match the wire colors, so would you please either tell me which pin belongs to what color on the left vs right OR just the cable colors that you have on your elites with the cdi on the right so i can check on the service manual to see what cable goes where? I hope i made any sense..
Thanks for any input.

Here's a pic of the OEM connector. - How about posting a pic of the connections to your sym CDI when you are done? Will make it goof proof for the next guy. Thanks!

The Sym DD50 manual is now hosted in the non-Honda service manuals. Wiring diagram is *really* poor though. Hopefully that will help. Between that and the SA50 1994+ manual should be able to sort it out.

Thanks for the input...
stupid me, i was not thinking to check where the cables go for the SYM and was going to check the Elite manual instead. May be the cables go to different pins.
Thank you very much.

MW shows the Honda OEM connector. Your bike is different.

You may need to run down a Honda OEM connector.

Honda elite S and Sym dd50 can swap cdi cuz they are the smae connector. I've done it. Oh and about your wiring id say look at your wires and get a connector from elite s/sym dd50 and put them in so you can use your sym cdi hope that helps.
