Oil plug pics....
Hello....
Can some of you share some pictures of the one-piece aftermarket oil plug INSTALLED into/ onto your AF16 /AF 18 engine block?
The oil plug I'm referring to is made from aluminum--the one some have purchased from VT Cycles.
I want to see the "profile" of what it looks like installed. The more pictures the better.
Thank you everyone!

Re: OIl plug pics....
Greetings:
Some plugs slide in lak Buttah, some require "persuasion". Both should be retained by any spare washer large enough to "overhang" the top of the plug. Use the channel next to the plug socket to squeeze a small bolt and nut to snug down. If you're anal-retentive, put a lockwasher or some LocTite on the threads. You don't want the plug blowing out.

Re: OIl plug pics....
Hello.....
I'm just starting to build up an AF16 block for my '87 Aero 50. Right now just breaking it down and doing some test fitting and so forth.
I pulled the oil pump and attempted to put in one of the aluminum ones in place of the Oil pump. The oil plug drops right in very nicely--accept the last 1/4". It's not sitting "flush" I've tried tapping it in to no avail. I'm not trying to force anything in, as we all know that can lead to trouble.
Any suggestions?
Also, can someone perhaps measure one of their working oil plugs and post up the dimensions?
Thanks to all.

Re: OIl plug pics....
Greetings:
My plug doesn't fit "flush" at all. There's a lip, maybe 3/16ths, over which the washer is hung. You can see that it't not intended to go down the plug cylinder - sort of like the head of a nail or screw. Sorry I don't currently have a better pic...

These are burnt_toast's photos - might help see if your plug is machined with a taller head, and how his seated:

Re: OIl plug pics....
My oil plug fits just like Toast's as well; fit snugly but easily slid in with oil on the O ring, and fit all the way in.

Re: OIl plug pics....
As you can see in the picture, that's as far "in" as I can get the oil pump plug (OPP) to go into the oil pump chamber. The plug sticks out approximately 1/4" from being in a "flush" state.
Also, the OPP glides in very nice with no slop once it is in, but seems as if it should be in there more snug. (just like the stock oil pump mounts into the oil pump chamber)
OPP overall length; 2-7/8"
Thoughts?

Re: Oil plug pics....
You need to determine where the interference is. Also is this plug for your actual scooter engine?

Re: Oil plug pics....
Mine was like that... It felt REALLY tight (like scary to force it in) but it ended up going all the way in. I only pushed it in with my thumb though, didn't have to hammer on it or anything. Maybe doublecheck clearance with something clean and try again?

Re: Oil plug pics....
the o- ring seal and a block gallery hole , need small lube of oil. So, it will not damage a rubber o- ring seal. Just need a deep socket and small ball peen hammer. tap it lightly...
then, press a kick start arm by hand to crank and feel compression..

Re: Oil plug pics....
mine did not go flush. i tried hammering it to make sure it was all the way in but that's how far it will go.
