1987 elite S SE50

Hello,
I just picked up an 87 SE50 in black and pink! its not my first, i once owned an 88SA50 and i currently have an 04 zuma. It runs really good its just rattles a bit and has some cracks here and there in the plastic. So i just have a couple questions

Plastics: has anybody attempted a plastic welder on these things? It would be nice to straighten this thing up. Also, i might attempt painting the pink floor board! but i dunno, the lately might like that part.

accel: it needs have a more smooth acceleration. theres a moderate flat spot at about ~20 mph but it will go up to about 35 as is. I may replace variator and belt. I think im going to purchase the VTcycles 63cc bore kit. Anybody have ideas for exhaust? The current one is RUSTY.

Kickstart: its non existant, the PO said the entire unit was removed once it broke so im guessing i need the springs, gears etc. any suggestions there? i dont imagine you can buy those from any venders.

The Leo Vince sp3 is the easiest exhaust to get for your engine. It will have to be shipped in from over seas. The kick start parts can be had from forum members if you want used parts. Honda may also still have some to sell or they may say NLA.

Don't bother with that kit from VT. not worth the $$ I had one and put the stock bore back on. Honestly, it's OK if you fried your bore but, stock is better unless you buy a malossi.

at 89 bucks the VT cycles 63cc kit cant be that bad? I figure this scoot has never been rebuilt and might benefit from a fresh cylinder and it may as well be 63cc. I would like to find a 70 though. I see the malossi on spi-parts? and on ebay but 200 bones is a bit pricey.

No 70cc kits are available for the se50. IIRC, 66-67cc is the max from a bolt on bore kit.

This is an 87 SE50 elite which uses the AF05E engine, same as aero. I dont believe a 70cc kit with head exists. Let me know if you know it does

I think he is referring to the Malossi 65cc.

I just installed the 63cc kit from VT cycles. Yet to test it out where i'm waiting on a few more parts.

awesome. i'd like to hear how it goes for you. Please report back. I am considering the malossi but not sure if the extra dollars are worth the 2ccs and head!

The quality of the metal and porting is why people pay more, not the 2cc displacement increase.

a kit with head is worth the extra cash. most shops wont mill it and if they do they charge way more than its worth I had to pay 65 to get my stock head milled to 43mm
