Customer 99 S, need some advice
I'm going to hop up a 99 Elite S I have in the garage for a customer and long time friend. Looking to big bore, slightly larger carb, and transmission mods. This bike is being built for a 300 pound guy, looking for suggestions as to where to start. He wants a nice firm launch and around 65mph, I'm working on a 400 dollar budget.
Suggestions? Thanks for any input, I'll post pics as it goes along.

haha yeah it was too funny watching him ride it when the top end still held compression. it was weak but enough to run, it hauled him good at 33mph after I derestricted it with great pickup but he wants it to scream now

50 would be easy but 65 i just don't see. you can keep the stock exhaust at 50mph.

i did a 450lbs = 45mph for a friend yrs ago for under $100 shipped the scoot from hawaii to n.y. at my expense and he loved it, for 65mph it will cost at least $700 but i can make it happen

Re: Customer 99 S, need some advice
Greetings:
The Nikasil 49mm (78cc) bore has you covered in the nice firm launch part - well, the scooter will be torquey, anyway. Launching 300 pounds quickly might require more ft-lbs than any 80cc machine can muster.
Be advised of the Nikasil's durable but unpretentious performance, too. Without porting and 9:1 gears, a top speed closer to 55 than 65 is likely. Porting Nikasil is tricky because it's easy to chip the nickel-silicon coating, ruining the cylinder. All this assumes the budget has enough left over for at least a decent exhaust. The 28mm V8 (with the blue heat shield bolts) matches the Nik's torque curve pretty well, but don't expect much more than 9K RPM therefore mid-fifties top speeds.

weight = heat on a 2 stroke so there is a grey area that you can work with.
