Yes. So would a set of calipers be better than feeler gauges?

bakaracer, what clearance do i want at the piston skirt then? Just go half the .20mm to .23mm range (that would make it close to the .004" ?
Just want to get it correct instead of killing the bore.

the .20mm is for the top clearance. the skirt you want .05-.06mm. if you use the .04, is yours really tight or can the piston slide still?
Nothing like getting stroked!

Evilone, what do the port timings look like on your 50 mm bore? Cause it seems they are a little low on mine!

.002" / .051mm = piston slides on its own
.0025" / .063mm = piston very easy to slide but does not slide on its own
.003" / .076mm = snug (feels the best to me)
.004" / .102mm = piston snug (more than i like) and takes force to move it. Feeler gauge pulls out with a little force
.005" / .127mm =very snug
.006" / .152mm = almost impossible to insert gauge
.007" / .176mm = i'm gonna start damaging things if i keep tryin!

Need some more honing for sure!

Thanks bakaracer.

Best would be a micrometer and a bore gauge.

Really need deck height as well to go with these maps to figure out timing.

50mm taiwan bore info

Post by Madman »

Ok I got my new 50mm kit and had a look on the block, it appears that on the downward stroke it does not fully clear the ports by about 2mm. Is this as Baka said before that these kits Are meant for mini stroke kits which have a longer stroke downwards? What would be the effect of running like this with the ports not fully cleared?
Thanks.

You need to make a spacer plate or use multiple base gaskets. Check compression after of course as it may be low and may need to mill the head or bore.

It's about .5mm I guess!
