Re: Polini clutch springs
You don't always have to use stiff clutch springs. The stiffer you go on the clutch shoe springs, the heavier you have to go on the center spring. There is a point where you can only go so light on the rollers to compensate to find the happy medium on the trans tune. Plus to using to stiff springs will burn up the clutch pads .after a that the pads won't grab as good so your loosing a lot of your power to clutch slip. The stiffer the springs are in the back, the hotter everything gets in the trans and more prone to things wearing and breaking. Why you think a lot of guys in hawaii break or crack the rear pulley alot.?they all run the same setup with those 3k or 4k clutch shoe springs with 2k center springs. Those really stiff spring are more for circuit racing so the rpms stay up more when your going into the corner after braking. They are not ment for street riding.kingkamehameha wrote:If your using a scorp pipe and corsa get the yellows or the heavy blues

Re: Polini clutch springs
Baka ive never used any springs other than the naturals. I ony reccomended the yellows or blues because tj does alot of drag racing. How do the naturals perform on a mhr bore set up like the one im gonna run? I plan on using a pg long or short

Re: Polini clutch springs
depends what rpm the clutch grabs at.every clucth or different brand clutches have different weight clutch arms. some heavy some light so rpm clutch engagement will vari.

Re: Polini clutch springs
Even stock ones are different weight. The 99-01 clutches are even lighter so the only way is to check weight by weighing them or by tach at what rpm it engages at. For street a 6k engagement is good and 1k center spring.kingkamehameha wrote:Stock clutch

Re: Polini clutch springs
The polini clutch the speed clutch with the three shoe design. It will be used for drag racing.
I am talking about the green springs that came with it. What is the RPM range of the springs?

Re: Polini clutch springs
My apologies if this is a stupid question but when you say 6k engagement, does that mean the clutch won't start to grab until 6,000rpm, or it will slip before 6,000rpm, and then right around 6,000 it will be fully engaged?bakaracer wrote:Even stock ones are different weight.
