reed stopper

Post by mmeadows »

im rebuilding the af05e and wanted to know why there is a reed stopper. the two stage after market reeds dont have a stopper nor the malossi reeds from what i just read.

so it this just like the plate on the back of the variator? a.k.a. unknown purpose junk that just slows you down?

C'est la vie

Greetings:

I think it might have something to do with maintaining the reeds' mechanical integrity - so they don't always bend in the same spot and eventually fracture there. I'd be cautious about running without a stopper, particularly with metal reeds.

hmmm, that would explain why the non metal reeds dont need a stopper

I ran without the reed stop with Boyesen reeds on stock reed block and really cannot say i felt any difference in performance.

Greetings:

Except for smoothing out the horrible casting ridges, I left my CT manifold as delivered. If the stops make no difference in performance, why risk removal?
