Good idea, just have a dremel handy to cut/grind the threads sticking in the intake.Bear45-70 wrote:Maybe I'm just a simple old hot rod guy, but why not just drill and tap a hole and install a second nipple in the intake if you are going to use the Spree carb?

I am not a mechanic, nor do I play one on TV. Actually my advice is probably worth slightly less than what you pay to view it.
That would work too. I would just press-fit it though.Bear45-70 wrote:Maybe I'm just a simple old hot rod guy, but why not just drill and tap a hole and install a second nipple in the intake if you are going to use the Spree carb?
To answer other question, I believe all late-80's SB50 intakes are the same, but not sure on any year-to-year changes.

Yeah, That is a Mercury TIIX (Twister IIX) 100 CID inline 6 making about 230 horsepower. I like to keep the stock plastics but make the motor different and parts swaps are easier than grinding, screw it up and have to weld it or get another one. I do have a tendency to over grind thing.Kenny_McCormic wrote:Thats a BAMF merc stacker you have, I got a twin from the 50s im working on, d*** carb is all plugged up.
