Heavy Duty Rear Spring for Spree??
Is there a heavier rear spring I can bolt on my Spree? Off an Aero or Elite that can bolt up without modification maybe? My fat * needs some more spring support.
"THE KILLING SPREES"...better than Fight Club

Unfortunately I recognize the problem, even though I've lost 30 pounds.lipskid wrote:Is there a heavier rear spring I can bolt on my Spree? Off an Aero or Elite that can bolt up without modification maybe? My fat * needs some more spring support.

I will eventually just by a new rear shock for my Elite but for now I have thought about taking the stock one off then getting a piece of pipe and cutting it down. Remove the spring, slip the inch or so long piece of pipe on, then put the spring back in.
It would not be the best cure in the world but it would compress the spring making it stiffer.

Not for a Spree, but for an Elite. I picked up 2 for $70 from e-bay plus shipping. They were chrome with an adjustable pre-load on the spring. I put 1 on my CH80 and one on my SE50P. The CH80 shock went on my Razz, but I think I'm going to replace it with the one from the SE50P. Had to add 2" the the Razz center-stand, just to get the tire to clear the ground!

How about an aero shock on a spree?
I was looking to put a heavier shock on my 86 spree. I heard about using an eleite shock but mistakenly bought an aero shock.Kenny_McCormic wrote:A SB50 elite shock will drop in and give you 2 inches.
Will this fit and/or be a heavier spring? Thanks.

AerElite Shocks
Greetings:
The shock on my Aero was meant for an Elite. That suggests they are the same, even if length specs vary. Taller is better for me, given the very limited suspension travel. Can't say if either fits Spree, no experience.

Most of my money is spent on scooterparts. The rest is just wasted.

All the Elite/Spree shocks are interchangable, but the lengths differ, with Spree being the shortest eye-to-eye.
I've heard the CH80 shock will also bolt in and is a heavier spring, but I don't know the length and I've never tried it.

You will bend the frame doing that. I've seen the damage and had to fix it. Weld in a top bar (headset to under gas tank) if you keep at it.
