Variator Ramo Plate Connection

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

In Tuner World, nothing attaches the ramp plate. You have to keep it squeezed together during installation so the rollers don't dislocate. Once the belt is on the tension keeps the vario casting snug against the rollers, and those 3 V-shaped inserts keep it all aligned.

Do you mean #6 in picture? Not sure what #5 is. If it is #6 just leave it off and apply very small amount of white lithium grease or some dry lube.

Special Plate Blues

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

Part labeled 5 looks like it could be a restrictor.

ya i 5 must be the restrictor. i got confused when i didnt have part number 6. i read in another thread on here that number 6 is the restrictor but i think 5 is the restricter and number 6 is a grease cover for 92 and older elites

Flat Rollers

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

Yes, the Keli has the threaded holes for the little grease cover bolts. The OKO has no holes, deleting that option. I'm running my Keli at the moment without grease/cover. Rollers have accumulated a few hundred miles with no flat spots to date.

Consider rounding the sharp corners off the edges of the ramp plates. These appear to shave the plastic off the rollers when they reach the edge, contributing to the flat-spotting issue. Hmm, wonder why this isn't done at the factory?

Variator

Post by daveo »

So, is the restrictor plate No. 5 or No. 6? I recently tried to remove the restrictor plate on my '01 Elite S, using instructions from this forum. When I got it disassembled, there was no part No. 6 in my scooter, either. My top speed was (and is still) 25 mph.

S Ramp Plate

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

The stock S ramp plate has almost no angle and so can't move the rollers out very far. Locate the SR plate or just order a Keli from DayWot on eBaY. You'll be happy you did.

You can leave #5 and 6 out as they are the roller restrictors.

HOw exactly do these restrict? I feel like the ramp plate will just fall off if that plate wasn't there?

Do not grease the variator or rollers, ever. If you must use a lube, only use a dry lubricant like graphite for locks but even then it's completely unnecessary.

it won't.the pulley can go only so far and the ramp won't fall out.
Nothing like getting stroked!
