so i was looking under thesame year but a sa50 and the stock main jet was 78 .
my question is why the too diffrents jets sizes in the same year?
should i be running the 78 jet with the muffler washer removed and the plate on the back of the variator removed ?
nothing else has been done to me scooter

More Output Needs More Fuel
Greetings:
As output increases, so does fuel demand. Run 78 or 82.

Re: 2001 honda elite s carb jetting
There were 2 models - the restricted Elite S, which got the 68. The unrestricted Elite SR has the 78 and no need to remove the plate on the variator.my question is why the too diffrents jets sizes in the same year?

Thus when you de-restrict by removal the washer in the muffler, the jet should change.

Pulling Plastic
Greetings:
Rob asserts:
HOWEVER:
When you pulled your exhaust washer, your engine became capable of spinning several thousand RPM higher than the 68 can safely supply. It'll be OK for low-throttle, but if you run WOT for very long like that, the bore will overheat and I can just about guarantee it'll seize quickly. You will have to pull the plastics when that happens...
Your bike so de-restricted needs a 78. Even at that it's set up a little lean to please the EPA. If you get a different exhaust or air filter, you go a little bigger still. Just do it.
I've got mine set up so I can drop the float bowl with a grand total of 2 screws.
Rob asserts:
I feel your pain with the fussy Elite plastics. I could pull the wholesome Aero plastics in under a minute, but haven't found the same knack with the SA yet. There are more parts to it, too.i just hate taking the plastic apart to change out the jet

Just phone your dealer's parts counter on Tuesday and read him that number to look up. Put "78" or "85" where the asterisks are. They're under $10 each for sure.
JiangWayne's kit does fit our PA carbs, including Sprees, methinks. Thanks for clarifying that question B3.

Re: 2001 honda elite s carb jetting
Jet kit contains 10 jets. Jets are usually $5 each. That's 50 dollars worth of jets.Rob wrote: vt cycles wants 30 bucks for a jet kit for the carb .

I've seen kits on ebay for $25, so there's a tiny bit to be saved if you search around. but not much.
If you just need 1 jet it may seem a bit steep, but nobody ever needs just 1. Having a range allows you to fine tune any time you change, and saves you from ordering 1, testing, determining what you need next, re-ordering.
