bigger carb?

Does your Spree/Elite already run great, and you're trying to make it quicker/faster? Need a monster motor swap? Discuss your ideas here.

Go back to the 85 and do a plug chop.

I can't believe

called shotgun.

Bigger Jet

Post by Wheelman-111 »

Greetings:

85 to 90 is kind of a big jump. Also there's no telling how accurate the Daytona jets are with respect to Honda-san's own.

A plug chop or a CHT gauge might be a good idea. Depending on what you find, consider also ordering a 99101-187-0880 from Honda. Like Goldilocks you may find it's Just Right.

Greetings:

A Plug Chop is an over-rated and unscientific method to attempt to estimate the conditions in the combustion chamber at a given engine RPM/Throttle position. You run the engine at the setting you wish to evaluate, then "Chop" the ignition and read the color of the spark plug. I'm sure there are Internal Combustion Gods who can do this and reliably obtain useful information. For the rest of us, a Cylinder Head Temperature gauge is more reliable.

Actually an EGT (Exhaust Gas Temp.) gauge is much more reliable than a CHT. We found the the CHT will reliably tell you which cylinder you fried (multi-cylinder engines) but on these scooter motors you all ready know that.
