I wish there was a proven formula that works. Airbox holes, needle position, air/fuel mixture screw position, oil/fuel mixture, proper main jet needed, etc. There needs to be a detailed write-up with every element covered. I know theres variables like elevation that affects main jet but there could be a chart for that too. Seems like most people that do the bbk have just a stock spree so the adjustments should all be pretty close. People have been installing bbk's in Spree's for years so Im sure someone has found a successful combination.

Temps are 298 @15mph for 3 miles with 2...1/2 inch holes exposed. Including the stock air holes with comes with.

Since exposing the holes from 1 to 2 my inline gas filter went from full to half full.

Well i just took my bike for a spin and guess what.... SOFT SEIZE. Something fishy is going on here.

Meatball you were right. I was babying mine this time too. First it started with a slight knock again and it seized. I wasnt even over heating this time. I think imma just put my old engine back on and leave it alone. I even covered up 2 of m holes to run it richer.

What was your compression? An like I said to much oil can cause it to soft seize.. What does the piston look like u got a picture?

Lean=seize..rich=seize....whats the remedy here? For those of us that aren't 2-stroke whisperers, can someone please tell me how to recognize when a 2-stroke is too lean/rich and what to do when each one occurs? Do I adjust air/fuel mixture screw on carb? Do I add/plug holes in the airbox? Do I change the jet needle clip to a higher/lower notch? Do I need a bigger/smaller main jet?

Agreed, too much oil in the fuel can cause the motor to run lean, however increasing the amount of air/fuel premix in the same volume of air wont

Man it sucks that you guys are having problems. This might seem like a real amateur suggestion but have you got the cylinder head mounted in the correct orientation? Before I installed my BBK i noticed that my scoot would get(what I thought was)abnormally hot. Upon stripping it down turns out the previous owner had fitted the head 90 degrees wrong, causing the air from the fan to hit the side of one cooling fin as opposed to flowing through the fins correctly

Just throwing some ideas around ;)

My advice, is bump the oil/fuel ratio up just a bit. It's always better to err on the side of rich then it is lean. If your going 32:1 ATM, then up it to like 35:1. Yes, this will be less lubrication, but as long as your not being crazy and going WOT on it, you should be OK. Something tells me on yours, you have way too much lubrication... wasn't it you that said you were running it 30:1?

Alright i tore it back down. Took my like 20 minutes haha. Iam running 32:1 premium with scooter pro maxima 2T.

The one on the right is my most recent. The one on the left is the first one.
Yes i did install the head on correctly.
Its gotta be jetting. I read in old posts people were using 100-105 jets in these things with the stock air box with holes.

Those 2 different types of BBK's? The piston on the left looks flat... or is that just an optical illusion from the buildup?
