I think he'll be fine with the stock setup and an upjet. This kit is like Darat's Elite SE50, and he's running the stock carb. You actually won't lean out, your RPM just becomes limited by the volume of air you can pull. Steve from VT Cycles says for the 65cc kit (which is what this is, run the numbers) is fine with the stock system.

muffler

Post by the496rocket »

Ok, I would like to get a new muffler off ebay, expecially cause I am getting a new engine, there is a couple on there for $75 after shipping, which is a lot of money. There is a used one on there now that I can get for about $30, I doesnt look bad, not much surface rust, I am only concerned about carbon buildup, With the new engine I want everything to flow like new. My Question is, how bad do these exhaust pipes get carbon buildup? Or shoul I be safe getting a used one? I would prefer not so spend the money on a new one if I dont have to, but will if that is the only way to be sure.

Thanks

Look in tech docs about cleaning mufflers (... there is something there, right?)

You can either saw it apart and torch it out, or put it on a campfire for 5 minutes or so (red hot is OK, melting is not.) Either will bake out the muffler.
