Easy now Taz. You are approaching the world record (4.428 seconds set by Tony Schumacher. Schumacher holds the top speed record for the quarter mile at 336.15 mph) Even a cycle hasn't broken 5 seconds yet (close, 5.27 seconds). And then... IF you COULD build it, would you drive it? on 10" wheels? :peace:

Check this YouTube cycle at 5.27 seconds, 404 mph.

EDIT: Just found this YouTube of world's fastest scooter.

I would suspect they mean 1/8 mile, not a 1/4 mile.

im just sayin I can build any thing just as fast as anyone else. I have unlimited parts to choose from. I have a s*** load of tricks up my sleave if needed. I will build a bike this winter and test it on the track in vegas this spring. Im gettin old so I will find a rider. hehe. I will post all times and speeds.
I have two sets of gear ratios for the dio/elite s,sr
15*42 & 17*41
I like the 17*41's myself due to the massive top end.

...yeah, that's gotta be 1/8 mile...

and, luny, if i'm not mistaken, kitty o'niel still holds the record, 3.22 @412mph in the quarter in 1977, shortly before the nhra banned rocket-propelled cars. perhaps it's not well known because the record is held by a woman....

lunytune wrote:Evil, how in the world are you hitting those kinds of speed on a stock SR? None of my scoots will do it, and I've got big bores on two of them... but no gear or variator upgrade.
My bad, not stock...The wife does have the Keli variator  didn't think about it this morning when i posted, she hits the "p" in "mph". And she only weighs 120 #'s.

Here's what was said, by me:
Who cares if MD can do the 1/4 mile on his scoot in 5 seconds
Tongue in cheek on that. :naughty:

Maybe the gear between brain and finger was not engaged, but he did say it. I'm sure he's had second thoughts.

The YouTubes posted are 1/4 mile and they represent the records as google-able. The records are NHRA. Kitty O'Niel ran on Mojave Desert, not NHRA race. I doubt that it was discredited because she was a woman, but because it was not an actual NHRA race and also because rocket-propelled cars were banned.

The YouTube for the scooter screwed up. Here's the correct one.

His time was 11.9 seconds, 109 mph. Look at the size of that tire.
