Thats right some racing gears for the spree are in port.
I will have them in my hands on this tuesday. This will help the top end big time.

So how hard is the price going to be to swallow? Because I really need to do this.

:worship: at long last!!!
what is the projected mph gain? (i suppose i could just do the math myself, but i hate math, and i don't know the tooth count on stock ones)
are they streight cut?

ohh, i'm so exited!!

12 X 83 for the early models and 13 X 83 for the last 2 years.

Greetings:

the 16/81 gearset represents roughly a 20% upgear over stock. If your scooter currently reaches 30, it could in theory make 36, presuming it can still achieve the same RPM. A 35 MPH big-bore would now be capable of 42, or faster than a good-running stock Aero or Elite. That's the good news. :)

The bad news is that Acceleration would suffer accordingly. :(

If your commute is long with few stops, it's a great deal.

it'd be a ring-killer, but i bet if i give it nasty enough ports, carb, and exhaust...
:nervous: combined with a pully mod, a real 45mph spree could finaly come to fruition. :woot:
(it'll just take awhile to get there  )

so... bear? you mentioned something about "stuffers" as means to raising compression via reduction of the crankcase volume...
is it possible to reduce too much of the volume? or is the only restriction the available open space that is "stuffable"?

I am not sure how much I am going to charge. Probally $65 to $70 per set. It would be cheaper if the molding cost was'nt so high. And on top of that the US dollar is not doing to well overseas in Japan.
But the gears will help alot with the 44mm kit. I figure if you use the gears with 44mm kit you will hit about 42mph on the flat and about 46 on down hill. The spree will still climb hills but you will loose some acceleration of the start with the gear ratio added. The spree should still take off faster than the stock spree set up and you will gain considerable top end with the 44mm kit and the 16*81 gear ratio. Told you guys I they where coming. Sorry we fell behind because of testing.

The hardest part about stuffers is finding places to stuff that do not conflict with the rotating assembly. I'm think about some sort of stuffer behind the reed cage. Two purposes,

first to fill up the crankcase

and two, to smooth out the air flow as it comes out of the reeds.

I wish there was a V-block reeds to replace the stock reed block. V-block reeds destupt the air flow a lot less there by improving effeciency. I had an old 1958 V-4 outboard that had the flat reeds like the Spree does. The later higher horsepower versions had a V-block reed set up. I retrofitted the V-block reeds and even though the top speed barely increased the fuel economy went up 20%.

With V-block reeds you can put stuffers behind the reed stops.

:? hmmm...
i'm looking at a split spree case right now and can definatly see the challenge in finding unused space, though i think that with the removal of the oil injection system, there is a small port that allows for passage of oil back to the pump gears.this space, along with a bit of room on the backside of the bearings, could be "stuffed" methinks, so long as the bearings got sufficiant oil from one side only, as the oil passage would also provide oil to the back side of the bearing. the decrease in volume would be minimal, but i've learened lots of little gains is the best you can hope for, and every one of them helps. :2thumbs:

This is great! I'll have to get my hands on a set of these and test 'em out!

With the Spree case, on the intake side, I see the main opportunity in cleaning up the intake to bottom end. The casting down there is poor between the reeds and the crank, and could use some cleanup.

is he testing different gears on us? the first one that someone already bought were 16/81. like the title says.

but if you see his new listing, it's titled as 15/81. and the description says 15/82.

what's the deal?
