CDI and Higher Voltage Coil?

Post by the496rocket »

I am able to get my hands on a high performance CDI box and coil/wire for my Aero 50, just wondering what you guys think, the description on the cdi says it will advance the timing a bit. and the coil better spark.

What do you think?

might improve throttle response. i dont see how the cdi can advance the timing tho. i hav heard they dont do much of anything at all.

The CDI box can advance the timing, give it a shot if you already have it in hand and it was designed for the scooter.

if that coil is made in Taiwan its the same as a stock coil, only the msd blaster works! and i don't beleive cdi units work unless you run a huge stroker.

carb

Post by the496rocket »

Ok, I probably wont get a cdi.

Another question, I am getting 8:1 gearing and maddog thinks I need a bigger carb. The guy I bought my 70cc kit from has 3 different ones, he has an 18mm, 19mm, and a 26mm. All kits are $200 and come with air filter, reeds, and intake manifold. is 26mm too big? also what is stock mm on an aero 50? Or should I get one from VT cycles? dont know if theirs comes with the reeds or manifold though.

Ask Steve at VT Cycles, and let us know what he tells you. I think you could run the 18 or 19mm fine. Vtcycles carbs come with manifolds, I believe.
