Without the gear ratio upgrade you will not see much top end gains. But the jet should be fine. A 100 should be ideal but let me know when you put the 90 in and see how it responds. If it responds better I will go with a 90 instead of the 100.

Re: It's alive! My 48mm taz kit roars to life.
anyone have a problem with a high idle speed ?
Re: It's alive! My 48mm taz kit roars to life.
im just curious whats everyones settings are at. my pilot jet is all the way in (100) my air screw is out 2 full turns and throttle is out 3 full turns
Re: It's alive! My 48mm taz kit roars to life.
the pilot jet is NOT adjustable by screwing it in or out .its fixed inside the carb. the screw with the spring is the idle screw and the screw below it is the air fuel screw. that screw you think is the pilot jet is the idle and you screwed it in,thats why your idle is so high.john wrote:im just curious whats everyones settings are at. my pilot jet is all the way in (100) my air screw is out 2 full turns and throttle is out 3 full turns

re jetting a 48mm big bore
I am not sure it ran long enuff to do a plug chop. it was nearly 1/2 mile of wot
left 90 jet ...................................right 100 jet.

Are you sure about the plugs? Because the 90 jet plug is richer than the 100. Irregardless the engine is TOO FRICKIN" LEAN. Oh and if you can't color plugs in a 1/2 mile ay WOT, how were we able to do it in a quarter mile from a standing start?

I thought it was weird that the 100 jet plug looked lighter than the 90.
The 100 was better feeling (seemed to pull harder.)
Maybe I need a bigger jet than 100
Maybe I need to do a longer test to see color

Yes, I agree, still too lean. But like I said we colored plugs in the quarter mile all the time with results that showed the same as a 2 minute dyno run, so a 1/2 mile is more than enough.Trafficjamz wrote:Yes I am sureBear45-70 wrote:Are you sure about the plugs? Re: It's alive! My 48mm taz kit roars to life.
No don't go longer on your run. if its not running right yet your asking for it to blow up. try a non bp plug.the porcelain is to long on the p plugs the br an b plugs has a shorter porcelain which will be better for the bbk's.check for exhaust or intake leaks too. if the 100 jet looks leaner than there might be a leak somewhere.Trafficjamz wrote:Yes I am sureBear45-70 wrote:Are you sure about the plugs?
