87 SE50P Gears?
Reading through the forum I can tell gears are a heavily disscussed topic, but I guess I'm still pretty lost as to which gearset to buy for my elite and where I can source the parts. Daywot on ebay carries gearsets for the Dio but didn't know if they were interchangeable with my elite. Any help would be great, it sounds like the stock gearset will put a rediculous strain on my bbk. I'm not so much looking for too much more top end really just reliability. Thanks guys.

Re: 87 SE50P Gears?
The only bolt on gears still available for the SE50 is the Malossi Gears.
You can also run the SE50 gears off of the unrestricted 87 Elite S
Dio gears can be made to work as well but you need to do extra to make them work

94-98 dio gears will fitbradthreee wrote: Dio gears can be made to work as well but you need to do extra to make them work
98-01 dio gears will fit but you will need the dio trans cover.
The only catch is for all dio/ se50 swaps, you need all the gears from the dio.

If you are doing a 13t se50 swap in the '87-93 variated elite, you only need the primary and the counter. The final gear and shaft is the same as the 12t.

Honda does:martynkim wrote:Very Interested in this, Who sells dio gear set? want to increase my top end on my 87.
drive shaft 4220257 (don't buy if doing primary aftermarket gears)
countershaft 4220265 (don't buy if doing secondary aftermarket gears)
countershaft gear 4220273 (don't buy if doing primary aftermarket gears)
final gear pressed on output shaft 8276560 (have to buy for the final output shaft with either gear set)
Can be had for $150 from honda and then another $50 for secondary gear ratio of your choice plus the cost (if any) for pressing the final drive gear. Or you can buy the malossi 7.something gears for around 100 plus press cost for the countershaft gear.

So I guess I don't totally understand, you'd just pick up the final and primary drive set for a dio and you're set? Daywot also sells both in his ebay store.

Re: 87 SE50P Gears?
No, you need the primary/countershaft gear/final drive and an aftermarket secondary set or the countershaft/final drive and an aftermarket primary set. The af16 gears need to be from a 1994-first part of model year 1998 to work in your se50 without having to buy a tranny cover too.PWDJDM wrote:So I guess I don't totally understand, you'd just pick up the final and primary drive set for a dio and you're set? You need the shaft that the red arrow is pointing to and the gear with the splined hole in the middle.
You need all of them in the 94-up box. When you buy an aftermarket secondary gear set it come like this:
That is my aftermarket 8.4:1 gears before they were pressed, sitting next to my stock gears.

Greetings:
Don't you need the clutch shaft and the splined gear #2? The AF05 gear is a tight press, not a spline.

Re: 87 SE50P Gears?
If you go with primaries (easier to swap ratios) you don't need the countershaft gear in green but you do need the countershaft in red, you won't need the primary shaft in blue either. Just depends on what gear set you want.
