Re: 72cc looking to run 9.1 gears
just a heads up.. with my polini contesta, oko variator, jetted carb, uni .. my setup hit 60 and ran out of space... my boy has a built aprilia with a speedo that goes upwards of 60 and he matched me... so it's gotta be pretty accurate... by the way it's still the stock carb.. and about 7900 rpm..

Re: 72cc looking to run 9.1 gears
Greetings:
I've owned stock, 9:1, 8.4:1, 7.97 and currently 7.5:1 gears. The ONLY time the ratios make a difference is in the 0-8MPH range. After that, the variator takes over and er... Variates. I found lightening up the weights a few grams compensates for the higher "hard" gearing in the tranny case by running the belt in a lower "gear. Hills absolutely are not a problem unless you come to a dead stop and have to re-accelerate. Another trick is to convert to a ZX transmission - the rear pulley, belt and boss - so your "low" variator gear becomes lower. But that's just me...

Most of my money is spent on scooterparts. The rest is just wasted.

i got a 2.7 sec 60 ft time with 8.4's which was thanks to some 6 weights
