Big bore on my se50 and wondering if I would be ok with my stock carb? If not, what's a good upgrade?

Yeah your fine with the stock carb. But if you still want to go larger,the biggest I would go is a 18mm carb. Anything more and its a waste.

How many mm is the stock one?

I wouldn't mind not having autobystarter. One less thing to be concerned about and my side panels are off all the time anyways.

NO NO NO!

That carb will not fit. It is too big to fit the stock manifold.

A bigger carb will not help you if you do not upgrade the exhaust.

Are you sure? It says aero 50cc. I do know that there is a particular aero engine that has a different manifold than my engine but it's pretty rare.

And I have ordered a performance exhaust. Malossi Wild Lion

Where to find a few different carbs to buy would be appreciated tho

They have not got a clue what it fits, so they are just throwing around models. The mounting holes are 48 mm center to center. The Aero 80 uses a PB series 16 mm carb is 43 mm center to center. The Aero 125 with it's 18 mm PB series carb has 48 mm mounting holes. The PA series 14 mm carb that is on the Spree and Aero 50 is 37 mm. This is a case of buyer beware.

It looks very similar (correct me if I'm wrong) to the PB carb that came on the 125. I'm only going of pictures I've seen not actual hands on.

Maybe that carb with an nh125 manifold could be coaxed to work if the holes for the block are elongated. This is all of interest to me for my own 86 aero.

It would be a lot easier than modifying a 125 manifold to just get a CT manifold and use an OKO carb.

Oh and rather than use a 19 mm carb on the 125 manifold, you would be better off to use the following 22 mm carb.

This would be a great option but the limited amount of info I can find about an OKO carb/CT mani combo on an Aero points out a clearance issue requiring trimming of the oh so rare body panels :nervous: I think if clearance is gained by using the NH125 setup then a limited amount of modification to the manifold is acceptable. Also it doesn't hurt the the 22mm carb you suggested is dirt cheap! 8)

Either way, the Sub 70cc BBKs available for the Aero shouldn't require anything larger than a 22mm carb. This could be a very useful bit of information if we can figure out if this will all play well together.

Anyone have a reed cage/mani/carb for a nh125 they would part with for educational purposes?

I might be talked into that, but the 125 reed cage is huge and will never fit in the much smaller 50 cc block inlet. Maybe use the Aero 80 reed set up with the Boyesen dual stage reeds, #740.

This idea had been bouncing around in my head as well after reading what you had to say HERE.

It would seem the optimal combination that will fit the Aero 50 4 bolt manifold models (86-87) would be as follows:
1. Aero NH80 Reed Cage (trimmed for smaller Aero 50 block)
2. Boyesen dual stage reeds
3. Aero NH125 Intake Manifold (with elongated holes for fitment to smaller Aero50/80 bolt pattern)
4. 22mm PB carb HERE or OEM NH125 18mm carb

Right now I have a lead on a NH125 manifold and intentions on purchasing the 22mm carb listed above. Hopefully when I get back from vacation I can lay my hands on everything needed and give this a shot.

I know that the stock Aero 125 throttle cable will not allow the 22 mm carb slide to close all the way (I have a spare 125 throttle cable and tried it).

FYI, I have a spare Aero 125 intake if you are interested. I will let you have it for a buck less than anyone else.

I also has a spare Aero 80 reed cage and a spare set of the Boyesen dual stage reeds.

Yeah and you can always build a small block Chevy but any moron can do that, so maybe he want's to do something different, you know, truly epic instead of just being a clone in the crowd of clones.

My thoughts exactly bear. I'm more interested in exploring the potential of the original powerplant rather than transplant something else. This scooter is an around town toy so I'd like to see what I can make it do while contributing to the community.

As for the reed cage, reeds, and manifold I will contact you via pm soon. I'm in airports typing on my phone now and that's not my preferred form of communication.
