Disc Brakes / Stronger Drums
Has anyone here managed to put a disc brake (or "better" drums) on their scoot following an engine upgrade?

If you are talking about the spree than yes. i have not done it personally but you can put an elite S hub and rim on a spree. There is also at least one spree in hawaii that has a disc brake conversion on it. Quik fix in hawaii has one spree that will be having a disc brake conversion soon so i have heard.Pygmaelion wrote:Has anyone here managed to put a disc brake (or "better" drums) on their scoot following an engine upgrade?

The spree at the end has a set of kitaco rims which fit the elite s hub. The original spree legs were used and a bracket was welded on the spree leg to stop the s-hub from spinning. As far as spacers and the bolt size I never did one but i could find out. Those are my old kitaco rims and the spree is owned by a good friend of mine.he has a 2.75 tire in the front I believe.
There's probably a better pad than stock that will fit into the Spree as well. The pads between Spree and the different Elite 50s is probably interchangable... right?

So i have seen the pads on the spree front brake is not the same as the pad on the elite s. Also when i tried to use the drum of an 89 elite on a spree rim it did not work so i am only assuming that the pads are not interchangable for that set too but I could be wrong.noiseguy wrote:There's probably a better pad than stock that will fit into the Spree as well. there 2 version aval for the aero, there's a bolt on that still use's a stock frt end but has the bracket welded for the caliper ,and then there's what we considered to be a "live" frt end ,that is cut and weld to fit
the first 1 can use a stock headset but the you gotta mess with the bars for the master cyl,the second needs an headset from a dio sr -af27 and on
