SB50? (Spree to SB50 engine swap)
Hello everyone. After reading about how swapping in an elite engine can help increase the sprees speed i am now interested. Someone local to me has an SB50 engine for cheap. Would this engine be the same that everyone talks about swapping. Or is it a weaker version that wont give me the same desired results.

Re: SB50?
Nope it is almost like the Spree engine, it has no variator and the gears are restricted in most models. maybe a 5 mph increase as opposed to the Spree because of the different intake. I havent taken one part yet I say this relatively speaking

Re: SB50?
thanks ill just keep my fifty bucks then. But i should look I for an se50 engine then to get speed performance correct? I have plans to make this into a fun lil offroad spree. And by that i mean small non crazy dirt trails. Probably campground duty and the like. Its a fun scoot already but i think a new paint job and some of those dirtbike looking tires i saw someone put on there spree will make it better. Also are there aftermarket disc brake conversions i could do on the scoot? Even if its switching the front fork and tire i would be up for that.

Re: SB50?
yea you can convert the front fork to disk brake by cutting the stem from the spree and welding it onto whatever triple tree you get to do the conversion with. the ideal would be the triple tree from like a dio zx live but those are from overseas. It is possible to get the triple with all the disc brake equipement, tire etc from a china cloned bike and swap it in there. The front plastics may or not beed to be modified. As far as the engine goes the ideal would be an af16 engine from 94-01 elite 50s but you can use the 87 se50 and 85-87 aero and 88-93 sa50 elite with the variated af05 engine if the af16 cannot be obtained

Re: SB50?
If you are doing an offroad build, I would use a mini mx front end for the disc brake swap instead of a scooter front end.
