some suggestions for my 86 spree with elite sb50 engine?

Post by stankyoleman »

i recently purchased gman75's (greg) 86 spree with the 89 elite e sb50 engine. its got a spree carb on there, and the bystarter is shot. On average i'm running about 26-27 mph on flat ground. i know that greg had some discussions with noiseguy about possibly upjetting alittle for the sb50, and i'm wondering if i need to do that. the spree carb's got a #68 main jet, but does the fact that i'm running a spree carb on the elite e engine make any difference? could i be losing some extra power there?

i called my local honda cycle center, and they said that they had some #72 1/2, #75 etc.. main carb jets. I'm hoping to do the exhaust and pulley mods in the nearby future.

Just wondering what suggestions you guys might have.

Same stuff as the Spree. Pulley mod, increase compression, check the intake tract for any restriction, build a tuned pipe.

how does porting work, are there posts on it already?

oh and what do you guys think of jetting for my carb... would it be worth it to try and upjet because of the elite sb50 engine? anyone know what is stock jet for the sb50?

porting increases flow through the bore. You can also raise the port timing.
