Spree Low End
I have an 85 spree that runs great. I have a #68 jet with ported intake and reed lips, running a cone air filter.
I still have the stock exhaust on though. I just found this forum and was wondering what type of exhuast mods people do. I have read about drilling the exhuast and one of the mods having a sawed off exhuast. - Does anybody have any pics of their drilled or sawed exhuast.
Really I don't care about top speed on my spree, I am looking for low end. A little quicker startup, with maybe a little more power on hills.
Would an exhaust mod help? I also read something about stiffer clutch springs. Does anybody know of any good places to buy? - Any other low end mods people have tried?

Thanks, thats what I wanted to know. - Any other mods you know of that help low end. I have tried various tweaks and seem to be at a hold as far as how the low end feels. Would the stiffer clutch springs help out with low end acceleration and give it a little more "umpth" with the hills?
- The spree runs great with the cone filter and 68, but not with 65.

Sounds good, I will try the spacer trick and see what it does.
Here is the filter I use http://www.knfilters.com/search/product ... od=RC-2540
I had my top speed at 33 when I was running my stock filter, but I also had an air leak on the reed. I fixed the air leak the same time I switched to the KN, and my top speed is 30 after it is going a ways. But low end improved a lot. I just tuned it to where I like the feel. I just do a lot of stop and go short trips, as well as playing around in fields etc. So I am trying to get the best low end.
