Tried new belt on my 85 spree,picked up 4 mph

Tried new belt on my 85 spree,picked up 4 mph

Well,tried a new Honda belt today,it worked great but wanted to get a little more mph.Found a gates belt,truflex 2250,is .478 wide and picked up 4 mph.Lost some start exceleration,but made some top speed!!!! :coolcruise:
Have 4, 84-86 Sprees
Sprite-85 Honda spree
-87 elite 50 engine
-90 jet
-9 and 10 gram rollers
-Highly ported intake and exhaust
-custom performance muffler
3 original sprees. A red, black and white

How wide was the worn out belt? I'm waiting on the full 0.5"" AX24 belt. My original belt is still within spec but I'ts definitely robbing me of some top end speed. If you gained 4mph I really have something to look forward to when the new belt arrives. thanks for the post :smile:

Old Honda belt was .430,new honda belt is .448.Then went to this one,what a differance!!!!!!!

Wow thanks!! Now I'm real excited! I diddn't realize that that gates belt was the .5" belt. Can't wait!!! I have new malossi reeds comming and also an intake on the way to port out so I'l be lookin pretty with my spree. :2thumbs:

mill the head .030 to up the compression and you should get the torque needed to improve the lowend some. stock compression ratios on these motors are real low(7to1) which were designed to use 87octane fuel. after you mill the head ,premium fuel will be needed.

I thought about that, but I like cheap gas lol. Gas here in Nova Scotia, Canada is about $5/ gallon or $1.34/litre right now. Was around $5.50/gallon a month or so ago. we pay the pretty much the highest fuel prices in Canada!

Fuel here in South Australia is selling for $1.56 per litre (regular unleaded)- all the more reason to be riding a scoot... :shock:

and d*mn.. i didnt know you can take 0.30" off. i'm at 125psi with 0.15"

Yup I only mod things that are small and cheap like scooters, pocket bikes, bicycle motor kit and lawn tractors :geekdance:
