help! 87 spree

Post by joe rouse »

i got an 87 spree it runs good i just bought it about 3 months ago bought it for 350$ when i had bought it it dint turn on, it had 150 miles on it, the guy who sold it to me said the carb needed a clean because it was sitting on his garage for a while, so i got it cleaned out and it now turns on it tops out at 30 , but it dosent seem to be going top speed the speedometer says its able to get to 35 also it now has arround 700 miles since ive been going to work with it and bringing groceries to my home, it really saves up on gas but am really getting tired of it not topping out 35mph only on small downhills it will get to 35 , i was also thinking about buying taler gears the ones from chop chop on ebay will upgrading to those gears get me up to 35mph or higher? Please i need some info thank you all for your help

taler gears will not help your stock motor dose not have the horse power to use them you need the bbk (big bore kit ) to get munch out of them ...

Just because a speedometer says something doesn't make it true . My 2010 altima says it should go 160mph , it doesn't . If you weighed 10lbs and jumped out of a plane with it I bet you could hit 35 easy. Good luck.

Greetings:

A fully-kitted-out Big-Bore Spree with MLM exhaust, carb and gears can make it to your "35" speedometer mark and perhaps a bit more. Aside from the cost and labor of those mods, there may be some penalty in reliability. How much will your life change if it can go 35 instead of run a solid 30 all day long? Sometimes Stock is good.

Greetings:

WOW, Incredibly clean '87! There just aren't many left in that good condition. You'll be sorry if you sell it. Maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but soon - and for the rest of your life...
30-31 MPH indicate a mechanically very healthy stock scooter. Honda thoughtfully provided extra numbers on the speedometer, in case of hills or an engine swap. Top speed of a vehicle isn't necessarily the highest number on the speedo face. Otherwise my Subaru should go 160 too.

well i really would like a faster scooter , i do like this little honda spree , if i dont sell it in about a week i will just keep it , and save up 50 bucks each week from my paycheck and ill see if i can mod it , i love the size of it its really small and light weight, i look big on it feels like a toy but it takes off fast wich people who see me riding it can see its not a toy , its a honda! :)
