Its a brand new SP3 with the washer removed so I hope not lol.

pretend its a roofing nail. or, i mean. drywallo, the small, thin ones. thats about, how hard. as soon as y8ou hit it with something hard, itll slam right in. it's just rubber needing to squeeze in.

I measured the plug and it is 2mm longer that the oil pump is. I dont know if this makes a difference or not? I tried to hammer it last night but just got a tinking noise. It just slides in up to 2mm short and then wont go.

That was my next step. I presume they are solid aluminium? I justt was not sure it was at the end where it was getting stuck but I suppose its not gonna hurt if I take it off the end and it still does not fit.

I'd need a picture of this plug. Seems like it should be retained by the factory oil pump bolt.

sometimes the plug wont sit flush with block so you need to add a washer or two on top of the plug.

Mines definately not flush. I did take a couple of mm off the end but it did not make a difference. It must be some where in the middle. However as long as it seals with the o ring and I make sure I bolt it like the picture above it should be fine I think.

Hi Noiseguy,

I had it plugged in without the retainer so it was basically just staying in on the o ring. I looked on the wikispreedia and saw a picture with someone just pushing it in and it did not show a retainer but it makes sense to have one. I have now fitted it with a new o ring and although it does not fit flush its only a mm out so I have just put a 1mm washer under the retainer so its level. I have also Honda bonded it as advised so it should be ok now.

If the plug isn't seating right, are you sure the plug isn't bumping into the oil pump drive gear below? And why not just leave the oil pump in place? It's useful and it fills the hole nicely.
