Torque / Contra spring colors

Post by steffen707 »

Okay I have some clutch springs and I don't know what they are, I have a blue, yellow, red and purple.

Looking on ebay from where I bought them it appears that most sellers have 1000rpm blue, 1500rpm yellow, and 2000rpm red.

However, I have no idea what the purple would be then. I might have gotten it with the kymco zx clutch I bought from kymcopartsonline, but I don't know. Anybody else seen a purple one?

Can I just put a weight on it and compare how much it compresses the spring, compared to the blue, yellow, and red springs?

ive never seen a purple contra spring

you can test it with a spring rate compressor or with weights.

There you go, PURPLE. NO idea where i got it from however, i think ebay.

I don't have a spring rate compressor, but i'll try the weight thing and then measure the height of each compressed spring.

Greetings:

Just mic the coil diameter. The stiffness is mostly in the thickness of the wire - See Polini Springs from Flash 6 thread somewhere.

Squeese the springs in your hands, cheap ones will heat fade but can used in other engines. I use quality daytona springs.
some people dream of speed, i own your dreams!
