Well it's a typical English June & it's raining again today!
Not much going on outside so I've been doing a bit of surfing on the forum and came across this thread, it shows various speed / rpm / gear ratios:
http://www.hondaspree.net/phpBB3/viewto ... eter+speed

In particular this slide shows something very similar to what I'm getting with my 12.x:1 final drive, 80/90 tyres and a 32 year old worn variator. I can't get past 8000-8200 RPM on the road, so guess that's my UK exhaust or a mystery speed limiter

Yes they could've been lighter than 10 g due to the wear.

Hi all Scooters adicts.
I've the same scooter NE50 as our UK friend Cancunia,1988- engine AF05.

So far I've modified:
• Malossi BBK and jet,P/N: MA 31.645
• Malossi final gears 8:1 P/N 676458.
• Proma-Italy exhaust
See my posts on this fantastic forum and those funny mini scooters.

Maximum speed is a problem on AF05 (max 38Mph) as long as the variator+belt+contra spring are not replaced.
My tests showed that the belt doesn't reach the max outer diameter (87,5 mm) of the variator, and it doesn't depend on the rolls weight or RPM, it's the geometry of the original variator basket and the variator ramp (Honda legal speed restriction imposed by EU countries). This test can easily be done on the variator, on the bench, by blocking the rollers on their max outer position in the basket (with mashed paper) and test with the original belt (15x642), 7 mm are missing untill the max diameter of the external basket diameter. I've learned a lot from excelent Scooterswaoshop YouTube videos (variators tunning).
So to increase speed to +/- 55 Mph (speed that my brakes will not reduce safely :coolcruise: ) I'm back to work with a Polini variator P/N: SKU 241.510.
Regards from Portugal.

Hi Rogerio,
I remember you and your Vision well with the personal paint job.

You can also try and find a ramp plate HONDA OEM that is non restricted.

I am on a FB group for the Peugeot ST/Rapido and the likes. Same AF05 engine. They have some neat tricks to make theirs go up to more than 100 km/h!!! Must be scary.
If you want the link to the group (in french) send me an MP.

My scoot is not working anymore. Engine was having more and more idling problems and ended up not being able to start. Still has compression though. I think the shaft seals must be leaking.
Also have the oil filling up the engine : the oil pump must be leaking.
Divorce and s*** since 2 years have me let the scoot abandoned in my garage. Sadly.
I'll have to repair it sometimes as I miss The Thing.
