Which performance exhaust?

Post by nobbylad »

Following on from my other thread viewtopic.php?f=4&t=27885, I've been looking at exhausts.

I can source a Malossi Wild Lion for the equivalent of $120 delivered, however I've also been offered the following exhausts from a scoot shop in Italy, however I don't have any technical info on them yet.

Proma race exhaust - $130 delivered

Image

Proma street legal exhaust - $150 delivered

Image

Or this Arrow race exhaust - $185 delivered

Image

I have a European AF05E motor, which has a variator and I've already bought a new Malossi multi-variator, which came with ramp, rollers and clutch spring. I also bought the primary drive gear set which changes the gearing.

I am interested in whether anyone has any experience of the above exhausts and can offer opinions on technical specs/price etc.

Any comments welcome!

Thanks

I guess expansion chambers are not "street legal" in Europe anymore the sp3 I just ordered has a 3/4 expansion design and the website clearly stated "no e.o." I wish I had seen that "race" exhaust before
Oh well...

That "race" looks really long for a short cased spree... they would most likely bolt up, but the longer ones would stick out beyond the wheel.

I'll be completely honest pal, I'm not sure what US model my scoot equates to. It's a 1988 UK Honda Vision NE50 and had AF05E stamped on the engine casing near the gearbox oil filling plug.

I think the street legal stamp is for noise more than anything. Most race exhausts for bikes that are not street legal are straight through race cans without baffles. It's not an issue for me.

It appears to be the cousin of the nb50 1986-87.

Thanks pal.

I ended up opting for the Malossi Wild Lion, which I was able to get for $115 + postage to the UK (probably around $25).

Thanks to everyone who responded for their input

That is a great buy. GBP must be strong right now, it'd cost close to $250 USD for one of those.

Hey Paul, on what basis? Are you familiar with either of them? I emailed the seller (luigimarinettimoto) for any technical specs but he just said "look at the pics".

I tried a bit of Googlefu to get more info but couldn't find a great deal so went with the Malossi on the basis that I'll probably be getting the Malossi bbk and have the Malossi multivar, clutch springs and gearing.

I'm still trying to figure out what carb to go for but need to find some time to read through the right threads. I'm still struggling to understand which threads I should go for, my assumption at the moment is that my AF05E based scoot is the equivalent of the Elite in the US.

I just had an update from SIP scootershop....apparently they have no stock of the Wild Lion and can't get any more as it's out of production :(

Apologies to the guys who I said I would try and source a pipe for :(

So my options are:-

Leovince SP3 - Image http://www.sip-scootershop.com/en/produ ... sp3+_l4447

Technigas - Image http://www.sip-scootershop.com/en/produ ... _te0307166

or one of the ebay exhausts above
