HS1 high performance light bulb

Post by kingearwig »

I have a 2001 SA50p. My bulb burned out and I have been looking at the local automotive parts suppliers and they don't have anything with wattage as low as 35 watts. So the question is can the elite s wire harness deal with 55 or 65 watts. Is there a fuse I can simply replace and run the higher wattage bulb? Do you think the higher wattage bulb might melt the lens of my Elite?

don't know if it would melt the lens

but
the wiring would not be the proper size for the extra draw
from the higher output light

you could wire in a relay

well i have another concern. assuming it didn't melt the lens and replaced the wiring or ran a relay, would the scooter's regulation system be able to handle the extra pull or would I then have to wire the light to the battery?

Moving the Headlight to switched battery puts more drain than the regulator output provides. Guys who have put HID's on switched +12v report the battery gradually discharges.

If you want to stay stock, here's a possible replacement. Double check it's correct before buying Check out eBay pic at this link

Check with bike shops, not automotive shops.

Is it possible to convert the headlight line to run an hid kit, as hid is only 35 watts like the original headlight. That way there would be no extra battery drain
