It's a good idea, there's been a couple threads started before - I'll track them down, to help get the list started.

I'd suggest the thread should be in Performance Technical Forum. It's target audience is better suited in that location.

For discussion, limiting thread conversation to stroker builds sounds good.

For capture of build configuration, I propose we keep one database, and separate out stroker builds vs stock cranks. Perhaps strokers have a separate table OR via sorting.

Everyone on the board wants to see and have performance build info, and putting them in a common place will help contrast differences.

Sounds great. just not sure how to implicate this the best way.
I'd volunteer to place the data on the 'wiki as a table. It will support simple sorting.

Possibly we might have read-only access to a spreadsheet format. That would allow users more advanced filtering/sorting on their own machines.

Below is a draft table for discussion.
It is organized to capture:
1) Descriptive info (dark grey header0
2) Tuning variables(black header)
3) Results (blue header)

Love the idea, currently working on my first elite stroker motor. This is great that everything will be in one area

Looks good!
It would be really helpful to people if we did this with all motor combinations! Not just strokers

Wouldnt it be "scorpion" not scorpian?
On this list there should be some kind of standard tho, you must have the engine running for more than a week and final tune info only not what worked one time. Otherwise theres going to be a collage of sad people using tables that make problems worse.
Certain styles of porting of the intake, cylinder, and the block can weigh heavily on jetting. The lists can be misleading as altitude and surrounding areas can heavily effect these tiny engines with huge carbs as well. Good base info to start at at least but not a decisive table to go by. I live in a very humid low land area so my jetting will infinitely be different than a good portion of the US.
Its almost like the age old question of "how heavy of rollers should I use in my variator" question. Not an easy question to answer and usually semi close.
Just an example a member uses a 24mm OKO with a 50 PJ and a 122 MJ on an af16e corsa build, my exact same set up (down to the t) uses a 42-45 PJ and a 132-135 MJ. Thats the difference between Michigan and Missouri.

HI LMH. what I meant to say is the spreadsheet will work.
I do agree a good base of info to start.

Wouldnt it be "scorpion" not scorpian?
Ironic that dummy data catches me being dumby

-- General
Thanks team - good inputs for making data collection effort useful :thumbwink:

-- Density/Altitude -
Capture location or altitude?
  • LMH's suggestion to adding location helps those willing to dig generalize altitude/temperature and humidity
  • Altitude as graphite stated gives some of info and makes it easy to scan the table by eye.
-- Porting
Some are open about porting and sharing info. Some don't know - 'I raised the port about a ring width', some know but choose not to share specifics.

Here's some ideas:
  • Capture intake/boost/exhaust duration as columns. Downside is cagey and 'unmeasured' folks leave it unfilled.
  • Have Yes/No column, then comments field where shares can put specific info
-- Additional carb info
Left a couple out:
  • Throttle needle number
  • Needle clip position
  • Emulsion tube

One thing that would be worth while to add is trans type.
Whether ones using a ZX trans or af16 trans.

an Engine section with sub groups for Stock bore BBK and Stroker would also be helpful and I don't think it would be a lot of work for the ADMINS

All the old posts wouldn't have to be moved, just a place for posts moving forward

I need to learn a lot more about various BBK kits and it would be good if a lot of semi noobs like me could have our own place to ask stupid questions.

A section for Jetting Tires and suspension and Electrical would be nice too I'll pitch in the first $50 if the admins would be willing to do something like this. Anybody else?
