Honda Elite 50 BBK Install: Any references to this?

Post by W8kbrder »

Hi all,

About to embark on installing a Polini Corsa BBK. Curious if anyone has any links/references to properly installing this kit, how to break-in, what to do/not to do. Video instructions would be fantastic.

I plan on doing a detailed picture write-up to this process to document for future projects. Any input/links would be great!

thanks,
Nick

lift up the cylinder off the base gasket when you install and lift the studs out to line it up. if you drag it across you could scratch the metal base gasket, and make a base gasket leak.

clean out the motor with dawn dishwashing liquid and a wet paper towel until it comes out not black. if the ports where chamfered when you got it, do that if not, its a good idea to chamfer the ports. then do that. make sure to do that, cause that black is metal shavings and itll smoke your rings and ruin your cylinder faster than anything else. i think polini, chamfers your ports for you, but dont wipe it out. brake clean isnt good enough.

oil everything with a thin layer of 2-stroke oil before you put it back together. wrist pin, bearing your crankshafts bearings. make sure everythings good with your bottom end. a new or good piston pin bearing should be put in too.

turn your cir-clips pointed open, to the sides. the force of the motor will spring them out unless you put them to the side.

use a torque wrench to make sure you tighten down the head bolts enough, and also that you don't overtigthen them.

Greetings:

Very good advice from bajack. Also don't bend the circlips so much that they lose Spunk. Buy a good quality needlenose pliers to make this job easier. It's Important.
