Can't, it's already been shipped. Oh well. If it works well, I'll order another hopefully at a cheaper price.

Looks as if this is probably all I'm gonna need to make it work with the Polini carb. Won't even need the bolts or adapter, just the black coupler. Will post photos with measurements when it gets here.

AND, I'm thinking if one DOES use the bolts and adapter, it can be used on a stock carb as well. All you'd need to do is reverse the side the adapter goes on and fit it to the stock carb. Piece of cake.

This would for sure be a HUGE improvement over the stock intake. Guess I'll have to see how it fits with the stock airbox. But then this might make a pod filter actually possible.. who knows... guess I'll find out.

What's nice is it has that oil injection nipple in case someone wanted to keep the stock pump.

Hate to be a Debbie Downer but this was why I went for a motor swap on my Spree. There just aren't enough options for hop-up parts for these 2-bolt/single speed motors and the gains just aren't there. Sure, theres enough to get you up to 40mph with decent torque if you buy everything under the sun, tune like a madman and run it a zillion rpms. However, any Elite/Aero motor with a variator gets you there in stock form without breaking a sweat. I applaud you, eclark, for making the journey and squeezing every pony out of it. You truly have the determination and perseverance to see it through. Guys like you keep the Spree alive with such passion. For today (Thanksgiving) I am thankful for guys like eclark. Bravo.

On the Spree I'm working on now, I'm also doing a motor swap, but then I figure, since I'll have a spare engine after I pull it, I might as well experiment with it and see what I can do with it. I'm actually thinking about doing something zany (and quite expensive), like putting one of these on it:

http://scooterswapshop.com/collections/ ... s-carb-kit

Might it be possible with this intake? That remains to be seen

Found the Mikuni carb on Treatland. Comes with a 70 main jet, 30 idle jet, needle #4F18, needle jet #145650-0, and slide cutaway #1.0

http://www.treatland.tv/mikuni-vm-18mm- ... -slide.htm

Main jets

http://www.treatland.tv/10-mikuni-main- ... 55-105.htm

Pilot jets

http://www.treatland.tv/mikuni-carburet ... e-jets.htm

Trying to do the math on all this. It's roughly

Adapter $20
Carb $ 80
Jets $32
Intake $41
_____________
Say around $175-180 with gaskets?

.VS $206 for Polini kit WITH NO INTAKE, NO EXTRA JETS, NO GASKETS. Add those in there, and your looking at what, roughly $100 more?

Plus, you could buy the Mikuni jets individually as well for more savings.

That's one way to add some extra oomph to your Spree/Aero without breaking the bank !!

And more important, will more then likely eliminate that pesky heat spike problem with the stock setup when using the Tazland BBK.

For a bit more added performance, just get ahold of the 2 stroke ninja (1man8scoots), and have him port your reeds (or do it yourself), or get the SB50 reeds and have those done.

OK... Part arrived today (odd it came on a Sunday.. but anyway..)

First thing I did was take tons of pictures comparing it to a stock Spree intake.. Pretty high resolution, but want to make sure everyone gets a clear picture of what it looks like.

Here is an image of it with the gasket lined up.

This is that same gasket lined up on a Spree intake

For reference, an SB50 intake next to a Spree intake:

Sooo... it looks as if it will fit just perfect, also looks as if my Polini carb will bolt right on and should have better flow since the adapter won't be needed. The engine side of the intake looks as if it could use some good porting and is very thick, which tells me there is all kinds of room to port deep. Very promising looking intake indeed. Can't wait to try it out. Think I'm gonna have 1man8scoots port it for me first though.

Wow, huge difference in air volume. Is this going on the Spree that has the bbk, carb, gears and MLM? We need dyno results! lol.

Yep, sure is. I was originally gonna put this on the new Spree because I wasn't expecting it till around Christmas. But *, since it came before the new clutch for the other Spree, I might as well slap it on and see what I get. So yes, next dyno run will be this intake, Leo Vince springs @ 1500 rpm with new clutch, and all the other junk on the Iowa edition Spree that I have slapped on (BBK, Polini, taz gears..etc). Gonna be one bad azz setup!! Has to be hands down the fastest Spree possible without an engine swap.

Configuration will be:

Tazland 48mm BBK
Tazland gears
MLM People's pipe
SB50 reeds (ported)
Kitaco intake
Polini CP Carb
Leo Vince 1500rpm clutch springs
Repadded clutch & bead blasted bell from JWPARTSPLUS.COM
Iridium Spark plug gapped at .025
Fuel mix of 1/2 91 Premium, 1/2 VP110 Racing fuel (100.5 OCTANE)

VERY, VERY interested to see what HP/TORQUE will be!!!

Here's a couple more of the engine side of the intake. A Spree intake is 25mmx19mm rectangle. Anybody happen to know what an SB50 intake measures at?

One thing to note, you can buy an entire setup from Japan with Mikuni carb, fuel filter, pod filter, intake, gaskets, cable, etc.. found it here:

The Kitaco attached to a Polini carb on an 86' Spree, correct springs to use, would be the YELLOW Leo Vince springs (2000rpm):
