hi all, im new to this site,i've been sent here scootershack uk,i've just purchased an 89 sa50 met in for my mates lad who has just left school and started work as an apprentice plumber and tiler/bathroom fitter and needed transport
enter via ebay a £100 ($150 ???) sa50-firstly we spent an hour jetwashing a few years worth of ckn cr*p and mud off it, yes it was a proper barn find !!
next I removed all panels fixed sanded and painted repsol Honda colours, then I removed and flushed petrol tank and stripped and cleaned carb
fitted a new battery and put in fresh petrol and she fired right up first time
next I took off wheels fitted new tyres, then cleaned and adjusted brake shoes and replaced rear brake cable, then for some reason she wouldn't start from button !!! yeah u guessed it ??
multi meter out and much head scratching so I then did some reading on this superb site and read that u had to have brake lever pulled to start !!
the stuck on rear was doing this job for me !! ha ha
next exhaust-a yasuni expansion pipe originally destined for a Peugeot speedfight 80 ,was cut n welded and cut some more, then mounted on a redrilled bracket, it now sounds lovely jubbly nice n pipey !!
so at the moment I have got side cover off and im gonna experiment with roller weights , I've been told to go as low as 4.5 g ?, the standards are 12g
any advice guys ?
my mates lad is gonna love it !!
