Boost and intake modifications

Post by DirtyE »

Well I had a few to split the cases today. The tiny boost channel is laughable, and mine was full of hondabond. Ill be taking care of this.

Good advice, but im running a fabrizi 50mm. I havent decided what to do about the oil pump hole. Since im cheap ill probably fill it with a proper epoxy. Its been a while, but I had to use some kind of filler in my piaggio cases when I backyard flowed them in prep for running a Top Performance Due Plus.

That why I like 72cc malossi or polini. (",)

It is better crankcase pressure and clock 80mph.

I dont want 80. Dont really care for anything over 60. Any roads ill ride will be 50mph max, and for me its all about the holeshot. 0-45 wheelies. I cant ride a wheelie, but having the front end lift is all the fun ill need. A clutch set to grab at ahigh rpm so I can rev up at a stop light before launching. Those are a few of my favorite things.
im not gonna sit here and say I can calculate my performance to an exact description before I build it, but what I can do is use the knowledge I have. Ive been searching the net looking at boost channels in piaggio and mina cases and the markings I have on my cases and the cutting I have planned should put me near par with those updated cases. Its just a match to the fabrizi cylinder.
the way the stock boost port is now, makes it almost irrelevant. Escpecially with the huge gob of hondabond that was filling it.

Sound advice swimmingfree. It seems like a big obstruction to the transfer port on that side. When the air blows past it it will pushed the mixture to the front and back. Im over-analyzing....G9 yours looks nice. Ill probably leave it at that.

Greetings:

If you examine the thin strip of metal along the top of the intake port window, you will see why that splitter is there. Swimmingfree is correct about developing a leak if you remove the support of the splitter. That "bridge" is too long to hold itself up without bracing from below. I don't have any personal experience, but 5 years ago reading posts here from people who tried it suggests that you will have to toss out the crankcase if you grind out the splitter.

Heres a pic of what I mean by flushing the transfers. Through the inlet you can see the blockage by the cylinder skirt. If there is enough meat there its gotta be trimmed.

Do I dare go farther up with the cutting out of the intake, or is that a safe place to leave it? I suppose I could angle the meat on the top a little bit at the least.

Im almost done with the cases. I left a lip on the exhaust side cause I don't really need air flowing up that way.
