Temp issues

Whats happening? So running a 72cc mildly ported corsa along with ported intake, stuffer crank and currently a pg long. Im running a 24mm polini pwk. Im sitting around 600ft elevation. Issue is im barley breaking into the 250 temp range when riding. Running a 42pj at 1.5 turns out on a/f screw. with a 102 mj. I feel as if i need to down jet to raise temps but then I just lean out at wot and it dies.

What kind of temp gauge is it? Where is the temperature being read from?

What temps do you see when it leans out and dies?

trail tech vapor sensor. Its a ring around the stud. When it just dies out temps maybe rise 5 degrees. I lightened up my variator weight to 33 grams and i saw temps of 265-280 while cruising. Im currently running a 112 mj and a 42 pilot jet. i may raise the main jet up to see what happens. Clutch engages around 7k and pulls straight through 10k

You have a filter? I would go down a jet check temps and do the same going up with a jet..trial n error..try a 110

I would put the sensor under the spark plug like it is designed to.
A motor that just dies at wot and only raises temps by 5 degrees is quite mysterious.
How many miles on this motor? Did you check compression? What spark plug are you using? What type of fuel? What is the fuel/oil ratio and how is it delivered? Premix only? Where is the needle clip set at? What is mildly ported, just the exhaust port? Is it a stock stroke crank. How many miles on the pg long? Maybe it's gotten clogged up........

Just curious what contra spring your running? Minus the mild porting we are running similar setups. I'm running a 106 MJ and 35pj clip in the middle. When you say it dies does the motor shut down completely or does it just lose power then come back after the rpms come down?

Greetings:

There's a substantial reading difference and more delay with a stud-mounted sensor compared to a spark plug ring. The precise correction factor is unknown. It might prove enlightening to hook up both and compare. Threading the spark plug with the sensor wire and shroud and that mud flap dangling drives me crazy too but temps that compare with others' is worth it.

What gear ratio do you have, 24 oko is a bad carb, mine was just switched to a 28mm.

Well we are only left to believe you cant read as he stated he has a polini carb .They are a much better carb than oko.
