Greetings:

The final big gear has a flat side and a domed side. Dome goes out toward cover. Might be a problem if reversed.

Dome is facing the cover and gear is pressed on all the way.

What if i just install with 2 gaskets? Should not be this way and don't want to go that route but would probably work...

Greetings:

2 gaskets might work, but would drive me cray-zee not knowing why it was necessary. That case closed and latched with all Factory clearances before. Why won't it now? In adjusting for the new factor, what will the extra mm of clearance jack up? And how long before abnormal wear results?

Gents,

make sure that #6 isn't backwards. i know it sounds stupid but if you flip it upside/backwards everything will rotate just nicely without the cover, and as soon you tighten bolts it locks everything up. just give it a shot. Also you can double check everything and if things are rotating correctly by taking everything and transferring it into the removable case side....

anything is possibly especially when things get frustrating and you have over thought about things. just double check...

easiest way to double check... is transfer everything into this case side...

then you can actually see the alignment of everything... in working order. =P
