Greetings:

Two entirely different engines shared the AF05 designation. Presuming you refer to the Variated version, I saw a legit 59MPH on Flash 2. This was with a Malossi 47mm cylinder, 24mm carb, LeoVince exhaust and 7.83:1 gears. It probably went a little faster on 2-3 occasions when I didn't have Garmin-Girl along for the ride.

There was a member here who claimed greater speed, but collective credibility refused to stretch to 103 MPH on 65ccs.

61 on a ported and fully tuned af05e with the malossi 47mm, Proma exhaust, se50 gears, and 11,800 rpm. That was using a ncy variator and switching to the polini I lost top end by about 7-8mph but gained wheelie power.

Unfortunately I don't do photo bucket anymore. The bikes been traded for an aprilia rs50 motorcycle also. It's a ultra rare pipe that was pretty cool.

I probably should've mentioned but you guys assumed right. It's the variated afo5e and yeah the proma exhaust looks sick.
There was a member here who was selling it here and someone bought it here's the link for the guy who's selling complete bike with that exhaust https://detroit.craigslist.org/okl/mcy/5580707749.html

Also i've been wondering about going stroker on an afo5e couldn't i just find a longer con rod for a minerelli and fit that I mean it could be possible right?

1man8Scoots I want smoke these hawain guys out here in vegas and could use some technical help
Also i've come across some new info for the venerable af05e engine like takegawa makes secondary gears for the afo5e that i wasn't aware of. Also some hawaii guys were saying they got an af05e to 65mph. Not sure if it's true but will investigate

I hope the investigation is going good. I too need to go fast with an afo5e engine.

Please post your winning combination of parts. Also where do you purchase your stuff??

For consideration:

My aero w af05 from a dj-1, polini bbk, stage6 21mm, kx65 reed block, custom burial pipe, malossi multivar and fly clutch n bell. About to do a zx trans n polini-for-ruckus vario w malossi or polini gears.on the stock rear pulley and dj-1 rear end it's quick and fast(to me)
https://youtu.be/mV3856GiL-E
Afo5 from 86 aero w airsal bbk and same trans and carb setup. Not quite as much torque to me but I never really got to tune it, I've also heard great things about aluminum/nikasil bores. That bore loved to rev, I bet it would have a better top speed but not sure.

Can you elaborate on this a bit? I'm running the same Malossi bore, 21mm carb, pipe and 7.83 gears and topping out at 45mph at 7300rpm's. It just wont turn any faster. Bones says he had it over 11k rpms. Whats the trick to get it to spin that fast?

I didn't say that but I bet it has to do with the ported/tuned, 47mm kit, and proma pipe 1man8scoots was using along with the se50 (10:1 gears) to achieve the high rpm's.......

My apologies Mr. Bones. It was 1man's comment I was referring to.

His set-up DID refer to "SE50 gears" but didn't actually specify the ratio used. WheelDude was specific with his gear ratio but didn't provide his achieved RPM during his 59mph run(s).

When 1man said "61 on a ported and fully tuned af05e" he didn't refer to what was ported. The reed opening on the case? That's the only thing to port since all other components are larger than stock on my build. Air pod, carb, intake, bore/jug and pipe.

Im just trying to get some input on why Im topping out at 7,300 rpms. Are the 7.83 Malossi gears just too tall, even WITH the BBK and all other supporting components?

1man8scoots usually ports and polishes the bore, which makes it move considerably more air and gives him w the opportunity to change timing windows. I'm betting that motor was a screamer.
I keep telling you, man. Change your clutch springs. You need to engage at a higher rpm.

Think about it- you put in taller gears, so it's like taking off in second in a car. You gotta slip that clutch at a higher rpm to put it in its power band or else you'll bog down.
