I need 1987 SE50 carb options / suggestions.

Does your Spree/Elite already run great, and you're trying to make it quicker/faster? Need a monster motor swap? Discuss your ideas here.

I need 1987 SE50 carb options / suggestions.

Post by Kustomkarma »

I have been trying to get my 1987 SE50 back on the road since last August. Every time I touch something, two more things fall apart. Right now I'm to the point of putting the carb back on. So far I've gone through 3 stock style carbs, but there's always an issue, stripped threads, mismatched parts, etc. etc. The short story is that I'm sick of these stock Honda carbs! What's a good bolt on carb for a stock AF05E? I've added a Scooter Swap Shop Slick Willy pipe but that's about it. I don't mind swapping the manifold if I need to. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

You'll need a set of Pilot and Main jets that are different from PWK/OKO and Polini but unlike Honda's PA carb, it does allow you to choose the Pilot.

Wow that looks great! Do you have info on model number, the best place to find one, airboxes / filter, etc.? I was kinda looking at the Polini Kit from Scooter Swap Shop, but I'm trying to reign in my spending on this project - if possible. :)

Greetings:

Some were available at Scooter-Center and/or 50cc.eu back when Michael Jackson was alive. Not sure they have them any more.

Does anyone know if I can use a carb off of a SA50 (AF16) on my SE50 (AF05E)?

I think so.. but it's the same carb just slightly larger. The amal arreche or other carbs are way more tunable/serviceable IMO.
